Privacy Policy

Who we are

BeePlayer (“we”, “us”) provides the BeePlayer media player for LG webOS televisions, together with the account and licensing service at beeplayer.buzz. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What we collect

• Account details — your email address and a securely hashed password.
• Purchase details — when you buy a licence, payment is handled by Stripe. Stripe receives your name, email and card details. We receive confirmation of payment and limited information such as a payment reference; we do not store full card numbers.
• Device and licence data — a device identifier and pairing code, your television model and the app version, your licence status, the number of activated televisions, and last-seen timestamps.
• Network data — each time the app contacts our servers (to register a device, check your licence, or load metadata) we receive and log the IP address of your television.
• Approximate location — we convert that IP address into an approximate location (country, region, city and internet provider).
• Playlist details — the playlist or Xtream Codes login you enter is stored on your television. If you choose to save it to your account, we also store the server address and username you provide. Please treat these as sensitive.

Why we use it

• To provide and operate the player and your account — performance of our contract with you.
• To process your purchase and manage your licence — contract.
• To verify your licence and to detect account sharing or fraudulent use. This is why we log the IP address, derive an approximate location, and count the number of activated televisions — our legitimate interest in protecting the service, and performance of our contract.
• To display film and series information such as posters, descriptions, cast and ratings — our legitimate interest in providing a useful catalogue.
• To provide support and respond to you — contract and legitimate interest.
• To meet our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data with the following providers so the service can work:

• Stripe — payment processing. Receives your name, email and payment details.
• ip-api.com — IP geolocation. Receives your IP address in order to return an approximate location.
• The Movie Database (TMDB) and OMDb — film and series information. They receive the titles being looked up, and TMDB’s image servers may receive your television’s IP address when artwork is loaded.
• Our hosting provider — stores the above data on our behalf.

We may also disclose information where required by law, or to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights.

Some of these providers operate outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred internationally, appropriate safeguards are applied.

Advertising and analytics

The BeePlayer television app does not contain third-party advertising or analytics tracking. The website uses a single essential cookie to keep you signed in.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and licence data for as long as your account exists. Security and access logs, including IP address and location records, are kept for a limited period and then deleted or anonymised. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these, email help@beeplayer.buzz.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children

BeePlayer is not directed at children. The app includes a PIN lock so you can restrict categories on your television.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed, and any significant change will be noted here.
